Biography

John may be the brother of Patrick Dargan. Griffiths Valuation lists him as living in Garryvoe, Garryvoe Lower.

There is also a possibility that the father of John and Patrick Dargan was Edmond Dargan of Kilmacahill (Kilmachill). There are 3 Dorgan stones side by side on your right as you go in the gate at the Ballymacoda Hill Cemetery:

Hegarty John Servant 16

There is an Extract of Marriages 1819-1855 from the RC Parish Register of Kilmichael, Co. Cork which records this marriage, but I am not sure if this is the right John Dorgan: July 1837: John HARTNETT to Joan HALEHAN witnesses: Jerry HALIHAN + May DONOVAN.

There is also a possibility that the father of John and Patrick Dargan was John Dorgan if the Irish naming pattern holds. I found this notation in the CMCR Project:
