Pheland, Timothy Neil

Timothy Neil Pheland III was born prematurely. his mother, Hannah Rigney-Pheland wrote this on Facebook on 19 February 2021:

Hello everyone, Tim and I would like to share the VERY early welcome of Timothy Neil Pheland III. On February 18th (at just 35 weeks) at 4 am I woke up thinking my water broke to find myself in a pool of blood, I woke Tim up and told him to take me to the hospital immediately. After a mad rush out of the house and going well over 100 on the highway we made it to Women and Infants where they rushed me into a room and within 10 mins rushed me to the OR for an emergency c-section. My placenta ruptured and because Timmy was breeched his cord prolapsed (double obstetric emergency). So the ER Dr hopped on the stretcher with a firm grasp on the umbilical cord and off we went to the OR. With the emergency of everything they put me under general anesthesia and saved my baby. Timothy was born at 5:04am but sent to the NICU for therapeutic hypothermia to help preserve brain and organ function in case he had a lack of blood or oxygen to him during all the chaos. He weighed in at a whopping 4lbs 14oz, 18inches long. He is a fighter and is doing really well so far. He is our miracle baby for sure. I on the other hand also was faced with many complications. I ended up in DIC and was transfused with a total of 13 units of blood and blood products. The doctors and nurses acted so fast and saved my life. We are so damn lucky we made it to the hospital in time. The doctors have all said the same thing “if it were five minutes later it would have been a different story for you and baby”. I am fortunate now to have graduated to a regular room as I have finally stabilized. Timothy is still working hard in the NICU and will be spending a few more days while he finishes his hypothermia. We are so happy with the care we have been getting and how proactive all the Doctors and Nurses have been. We know we are in the best of hands right now and are so incredibly grateful for everyone who has reached out to us and to our families who dropped everything to help us. Love you all
