Ellen died young. She had cancer.
However, Gerry Motherway says his mother died of a heart attack at age 46.
When Ellen died, their father Patrick went back to England.
The oldest three children were on their own.
The youngest three children, however, were sent to the homes of their uncles.
They were raised in different homes and didn’t grow up together.
