The will of Timothy Dorgan late of Cloyne County Cork Shopkeeper who died 13 November 1890 at same place was proved at Cork by Johanna Dorgan of same place Widow the sole Executrix. Effects £98 17s.
Here is my transcription of his will:
“In the Name of God Amen.
I Timothy Dorgan of Cloyne in the County of Cork, Shopkeeper,
make this my last Will hereby revoking all former Wills heretofore made by me.
I bequeath to Johanna Dorgan of Cloyne, widow of my brother Michael, my House in Church Street, Cloyne, with the good will of the business carried on therein and all stock in trade, book, debts, House furniture, goods, chattels and effects therein and all other property real and personal of which I shall die possessed for her sole use. I appoint said Johanna Dorgan my residuary Devisee and Executrix of this my Will Dated this Seventh November 1890 (ninety)/ _____ Timothy his Dorgan. Signed and acknowledged by mark said Timothy Dorgan as his last Will in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence at his request and in presence of each other have herewith subscribed or names as Witnesses this Will having been first truly read over to said Timothy Dorgan who seemed perfectly to understand same & put this mark thereto in our presence, James Dunlea Solr. On 28 September 2016 I wrote this message to her: “What's more important for me is your finding of the marriage of another Timothy Dargan (Dorgan) b.1844 and Johanna O'Gorman. This Timothy is my GGranduncle, the son of Patrick Dargan (Dorgan) and Johanna Flynn, my GG Grandparents. This is the late 19th/early 20th c. East Cork generation that switched from Irish to English, unlike West Cork ... hence DARGAN (Ó'Deargain/Dargan) to DORGAN.”
